Fall PLC: Language Stories — Centering Students' Linguistic Capital in our Classrooms

We offer Professional Learning Communities for teachers to earn graduate college credit, grow as a writing teacher, and learn practical and progressive practices to bring back to your classroom!

New Teacher Network

This fall, we will initiate the SJAWP New Teacher Network to offer a collaborative and supportive “home” for first and second-year teachers, including alumni of San José State’s English Credential program.

Asilomar Conference

Teachers can earn up to three units for attending this fall's Asilomar Conference from October 3-5 through the SJAWP. Credit requirements can be found here. Course information, location, and registration below.

Writing Across the Curriculum Workshop

The SJAWP will be featured in SJSU's Writing Across the Curriculum Fall Workshops. Attendance is not limited to SJSU faculty (only the stipend is).

Super Saturday

Our Super Saturdays use a "lab school" model, in which teachers and students participate in the presenter’s workshop lesson together in small groups, generally including the following: mini-lesson on writing craft, study of a mentor text, demonstration of innovative and engaging pedagogical strategies, large blocks of time for students and teachers to write, and sharing writing in small groups or whole group.

Coming this spring! More information to come soon.
