Writing Workshop
Our Writing Workshops are offered in the summer for 4th to 7th graders, alongside the Teen Writers Institute. Your child can explore their creative writing skills and make new friends in a safe, nurturing community.
Teen Writer's Institute
During the summer, we offer transformative writing courses for 8th to 12th graders. Students will have the opportunity to attend workshops that allow them to develop as writers in a rich, collaborative environment. Our courses range from teaching students how to write novels, plays, film scripts, and college essays.
Teen Writer's Salon
The Teen Writer's Salon provides a community for 7th to 12th graders to write freely and socialize with other creatives, without the commitment of a full-length course. Students are free to submit their own writing for peer feedback facilitated by our author-in-residence: Hannah Jayne!
Teen Novel Writing Program
Calling all aspiring novelists and creative writers in the 8th to 12th grades! Students can bring their own novels to completion under the guidance of published authors. The Teen Novel Writing Program is designed to be flexible and accommodating of busy students who wish to pursue their passion for novel writing with supportive peers.
Lab School
The San Jose Area Writing Project is partnering with teacher and poet Raven Sisco to offer an online writing class for both student writers and writing teachers called Writing for Self Care and Community Building. From July 10th through the 14th, participants will receive daily prompts as well as opportunities for teacher participants to reflect on how these prompts might apply in a classroom setting.
