We look forward to summer 2021 when we can once again provide in-person camps with our youngest writers; virtual writing classes, unfortunately, are not developmentally appropriate for this age group. In the meantime, write, create, explore, read, and have fun!
See you in 2021.
Creative Writing Camps
The camps are one-week programs for writers entering grades 3-8 in the fall. The classes are grouped by grade level, limited to 18 students, and are led by credentialed teacher consultants with the San Jose Area Writing Project.
The hours are 9:00 am – 2:30 pm and we are unable to provide daycare in the afternoon. Students bring a snack and lunch. Arts and crafts are offered at lunch time in addition to playground activities.
Camps are offered at two different locations!

Cumberland Creative Writing Camp
Cumberland Elementary School | 824 Cumberland Dr, Sunnyvale
St. Victor Creative Writing Camp
St. Victor School | 3150 Sierra Rd, San Jose
These are a fun week of camp-style writing classes designed for elementary students to develop their imaginative skills and hone their craft for writing fiction or creative nonfiction. Students learn how writers draw on research and real experience for their stories. They experiment with various formats, i.e. cartoons, online articles, scripts, etc. Teachers confer to give feedback while workshops are in progress.
