Professional Learning Community 2011-2012
Our Professional Learning Community
The San Jose Area Writing Project is pleased to begin year three of the Professional Learning Community, offering an opportunity for teachers to improve their classroom writing instruction. Participants will collaborate with their peers, sharing strategies they acquire in four of the six Writing Project's 2011–2012 Super Saturday programs.
The Professional Learning Community in the Teaching of Writing sponsored by the San Jose Area Writing Project gives participants—from pre-service to veteran teachers—the opportunity to
- Participate in professional conversations
- Collaborate with people who are passionate about writing
- Reflect on best practices in the teaching of writing
- Implement strategies learned in Super Saturday workshops
- Experience excellent professional development while earning reasonably–priced full-semester credit at the same time
- Earn 3 units of credit for $360.00 (includes workshop fees and lunches)
- Register by October 8, 2011
- Attend four 2011/2012 Super Saturdays
- Attend 4 Cohort Group meetings:
- Saturday, October 8, 2011, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
- Saturday, December 10, 2011, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Saturday, April 7, 2012, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
- Saturday, May 12, 2012, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Write two 3–5 page reflection papers due December 16, 2011 and May 18, 2012
